MOUNT RAINIER NATURE NOTES
Vol. IX March-April, 1931 No. 3

MUSEUM BUILDING BEING REMODELED

The Museum Building at Longmire is having its "face lifed". This structure was formerly the Administration Building - being turned over to the Educational Department for development as a Museum when the newer and more adequate Administration Building was completed several years ago. Never having been intended for museum use the floor plan of the old Administration Building was inadequate for its new use. Consequently this spring finds several carpenters at work making alterations that will make the Museum more worthy of its name.

Partitions and windows are being removed making more floor and wall space available. An information office is being installed and cases for display are being constructed. The office of the Naturalist is being moved to the floor above which is being remodeled to include not only the office of the Naturalist but also a small dark room, library and labratory. The entire building will also be re-decorated. This work is to be completed before the beginning of the coming season. The remodeled building will provide much more adequate working and display room where the work of acquainting Park visitors with the beauty and interesting features of the region can be directed to better advantage.
