PERSONS DR. CARL P. RUSSELL, Director of Region One, began this month his annual three-month tour of duty in Washington in the office of the Director. He will remain until December 1. The four Regional Directors follow a rotation plan whereby each spends three months of the year in Washington. During Dr. Russell's absence Herbert Evison is Acting Regional Director and H. K. Roberts acts as Associate Regional Director. * * * HERBERT MAIER, of Region Three, who completed his Washington tour upon the arrival of Dr. Russell, visited many Region One areas during his stay in the East. Shenandoah, Colonial, Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania, Gettysburg, Cape Hatteras National Seashore (proposed), Swift Creek, Richmond Battlefield, and Seashore and Westmoreland State Parks were among the federal and state reservations included on his trips. At the end of his assignment he also visited several areas of New England. * * * J. GORDON BENNETT, Assistant Landscape Architect formerly on the staff of Shiloh National Military Park, Pittsburg Landing, Tenn., has been designated Acting Superintendent of Fort Donelson National Military Park, Dover, Tenn. His transfer to Fort Donelson followed the death of Superintendent W. T. Murray. * * * |
