1902 | A. H. Brooks and D. L. Raeburn, of the
Geological Survey, United States Department of the Interior, made a
survey of this mountain range and were the first white men to set foot
upon the slopes of Mount McKinley. |
1903 | May. A party under leadership of Judge James
Wickersham made the first attempt to climb Mount McKinley but was not
successful. |
1910 | William Taylor and Pete Anderson made the
first successful ascent of the north peak of Mount McKinley. |
1913 | First party under Archdeacon Hudson Stuck and
Harry Karstens reached summit of the south peak of the
mountain. |
1917 | Mount McKinley created a national park by act
of Congress. |
1932 | The Lindley-Liek party climbed both the north
and south peaks. They were the first expedition to accomplish this
feat. |
1934 | First ascent made of both peaks of Mount
Foraker by C. S. Houston, Dr. T. G. Brown, and G. C. Waterston. |
