List of Ideas Suggested By Chilkoot Hikers

This list of ideas suggested by Chilkoot hikers is In addition to the ideas presented in the text of this report.

Bridge to ruins of Sheep Camp. "You are here" markers.

Signs and information about good campsites.

Fix up the White Pass Trail (and Dalton, and Fantail too).

Get rid of plane wreck.

Decipher names on Lindeman and Bennett graves.

Remove skeleton and citizen made signs.

Make winter hikes possible/winterize the cabins.

More information on Lindeman City points of interest—provide marked nature trails near campsites.

Provide a stampeders badge to be sold by rangers to those who complete hike.

Stock the lakes with fish, provide canoes.

Novices should be accompanied by experienced hikers.

No children under 16 on the Trail.

Use kilometers.

Use or require registration.

Bus and boat tours at trailheads.

Provide tent platforms.

If highway crosses near Trailhead, will need stricter controls.

Limit plane flights over Pass.

Require stoves and tents.

Provide campground/shelter at Bennett, Dyea and Skagway.

Provide showers at Bennett, Lindeman, Canyon City, and Skagway.

WP & YR should guarantee hikers seats, improve meals, change schedules, allow dogs, provide transport from Skagway to Dyea.

Build trail from Skagway to Dyea.

Stop the road and the hydro project.

Rename Happy Camp.

Pave the Trail, put in gutters.

Put cats, screens, spittons, foodlockers, pack hangers and more reading material in the shelters.

Remove garbage cans at Lindeman.

Provide a place to store excess gear in Skagway.

Allow hikers to use Peterson Pass.

Put wooden railings up along the canyons on the Canadian side.

Put safety ropes up on both sides of the Pass.

Burn the slash left from building the Trail from Lindeman to Bennett.

Put three-layer bunks in the shelters.

Build large covered porches on the shelters.
