Matt Atkinson is a native of Houston, Mississippi. He received a BBA in General Business and a BA in History from Ole Miss and is currently working on a MA in History. Matt has served as an interpreter at Petersburg National Battlefield, Natchez National Historical Park, Manassas National Battlefield, and Gettysburg National Military Park. He is currently employed at Vicksburg National Military Park.

Bert H. Barnett has been a park ranger/historian at Gettysburg National Military Park (NMP) since 1992. He has also worked at Stones River, Manassas and Shiloh in his National Park Service career. His essays in appeared in the last three GNMP seminar proceedings.

Eric A. Campbell is a twenty-year veteran of the National Park Service. He has worked at Gettysburg National Military Park as a ranger/historian for eighteen years. Previous to Gettysburg he worked at Independence NHP. His book, "A Grand Terrible Dramma": From Gettysburg to Petersburg, The Civil War Letters of Charles Wellington Reed, the medal of honor winner bugler of the 9th Massachusetts Battery, was published by Fordham University Press in 2000, and won the Eastern National author's award in 2001.

Troy D. Harman has been with the National Park Service since 1984 in historical interpretation. He currently works at Gettysburg NMP. Previous to working here he worked at Appomattox Court House NHS, Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania NMP, and Independence NHP. He has a M.A. in history from Shippensburg University, and is the author of the book Cemetery Hill: The General Plan Was Unchanged.

D. Scott Hartwig is a supervisory historian at Gettysburg NMP. He is the author of numerous essays and articles, as well as two books.

Lt. Colonel William D. Hewitt, U.S. Army (Retired) served thirty-one years in the army, including six years in intelligence and twenty-five years in armor and cavalry. Lt. Colonel Hewitt taught for four years at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College's Center for Army Tactics. While serving here he rewrote the primary tactics course for the College, supervised and reviewed all secondary tactics instruction, and conducted tactics seminars with senior army officers. He is the author of thirteen articles for journals and military publications and two tactics manuals.

Anthony Nicastro is a graduate of the City University of New York and is a United States Navy combat veteran. For the past eleven years he has been an adjunct instructor for the Harrisburg Area Community College. He has worked as a park ranger at Eisenhower NHS and Gettysburg NMP. Since 1993 he has been a Licensed Battlefield Guide and received the Superintendent's Award for excellence in guiding in 2002.

Michael Phipps is a graduate of the Gilmore School and Johns Hopkins University. He served as a light infantry officer with the U.S. Army and Maryland National Guard, and also as a police officer in Baltimore County, Maryland. He has been a licensed battlefield guide for 13 years and is the author of "The Devil's to Pay:" General John Buford, and "Come on, You Wolverines:" Custer at Gettysburg.

Karlton D. Smith is a 12-year veteran interpreter/historian at Gettysburg NMP. Previous to working at Gettysburg he worked at Independence NHP. He has authored essays in all of the Gettysburg NMP seminars.
