This brochure was produced by the Historic American Engineering
Record (HAER), a program of the National Park Service, U.S. Department
of the Interior. The Going-to-the-Sun Road Recording Project, conducted
during the summer of 1990, was co-sponsored by Historic American
Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record under the general
direction of Dr. Robert J. Kapsch, Chief, HABS/HAER; Glacier National
Park Superintendent, Gil Lusk; Rocky Mountain Regional Director,
Lorraine L. Mintzmyer, and NPS Roads and Bridges Program Manager John
Gingles. The fieldwork, measured drawings, and historical reports were
prepared under the direction of Eric Delony, Chief, HAER. The recording
team con.sisted of William S. Withers, Supervisory Architect; Jessica
Gibson-Withers, Architect; Tajda Ivanisevic, ICOMOS
Architect/Yugoslavia; and Kathryn Steen, Historian of Tehnology.
This brochure was written by Kathryn Steen with
contributions from Dennis Holden, Bruce Fladmark, and Chief Naturalist
Cindy Nielsen, of Glacier National Park. It was designed by Jessica
Gibson-Withers.
