Matt Atkinson is a native of Houston, Mississippi. He received a B.B.A in General Business and a B.A. in History from Univ. of Mississippi and is currently working on a MA in History. Matt has served as an interpreter at Petersburg National Battlefield, Natchez National Historical Park, Manassas National Battlefield, and Gettysburg National Military Park. He is currently employed at Vicksburg National Military Park.

Bert H. Barnett has been a park ranger/historian at Gettysburg National Military Park (NMP) for sixteen years. He has also worked at Stones River, Manassas, Shiloh and Kennesaw Mountain in his National Park Service career. His essays have appeared in the last four GNMP seminar proceedings.

Eric A. Campbell has worked at Gettysburg National Military Park for 22 years as first a licensed battlefield guide and for the last 19 years as a ranger/historian. His book, "A Grand Terrible Dramma": From Gettysburg to Petersburg, The Civil War Letters of Charles Wellington Reed, the medal of honor winner bugler of the 9th Massachusetts Battery, was published by Fordham University Press in 2000, and won the Eastern National author’s award in 2001.

Troy D. Harman has been with the National Park Service since 1984 in historical interpretation and worked at Appomattox Court House NHS, Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania NMP, Valley Forge NHP and Independence NHP prior to coming to Gettysburg NMP. He also teaches in the history department at the Gettysburg campus of Harrisburg Area Community College. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in history at Lehigh University, and is the author of the book Lee’s Real Plan at Gettysburg.

D. Scott Hartwig is a 28 year veterans of the National Park Service and has been a supervisory historian at Gettysburg for the past 14 years. He has been instrumental in the growth of Gettysburg’s on-site field interpretation and a key player for the design of all aspects of the new battlefield museum/visitor center. Additionally, he has authored numerous essays and articles on various Civil War subjects, as well as two books.

Lt. Colonel William D. Hewitt, U.S. Army (Retired) served thirty-one years in the army, including six years in intelligence and twenty-five years in armor and cavalry. Lt. Colonel Hewitt taught for four years at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College’s Center for Army Tactics. While serving here he rewrote the primary tactics course for the College, supervised and reviewed all secondary tactics instruction, and conducted tactics seminars with senior army officers. He is the author of thirteen articles for journals and military publications and two tactical manuals.

Timothy J. Orr is a 2001 Gettysburg College graduate, he earned his M.A. in History at Pennsylvania State University in 2003 and is currently teaching there as a history instructor while he completes his doctoral dissertation. He worked as a seasonal ranger at Gettysburg NMP for eight years, from 1999 to 2006.

Karlton D. Smith is an 18-year veteran interpreter/historian at Gettysburg NMP. Previous to working at Gettysburg he worked at Independence NHP. He has authored essays in all of the Gettysburg NMP seminars.
