MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK
Longmire Meadow Spring Enclosure

Opposite Longmire Village, the Longmire Springs have remained, in appearance, relatively undisturbed by development. Historically, the 'horse' trains that were run on the road built between Ashford and the mineral springs reached a favorite destination at the wildflower-carpeted meadow and natural springs. A health spa resort with a hotel, cabins, tents and bathhouses over the springs attracted visitors and played an important role in developing the land as a national park. Today, accessible only by foot, the beaver pond and meadows, which surround the spring, retain a sense of quiet isolation.6
